The development of fruit growing in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s from the perspective of the national economy

The bachelor’s thesis deals with the development of the fruit growing in the territory of independent Czechoslovakia between 1920 and 1929. Its purpose is to establish the truth of the hypothesis that during the 1920s there was an increase in the production and volume of foreign trade in the fruit growing in absolute terms, but the relative importance relative to selected agricultural commodities declined. Direct and indirect methods of historical research, progressive, statistical-analytical, legislative-analytical, comparative and probe methods were used to meet the objectives. Furthermore, the methods of analogy, analysis and synthesis were used to interpret the data. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the fruit growing before the period under study and summarizes the findings. Based on the research results, the practical part makes a comparison of fruit growing with selected agricultural commodities as an output of other agricultural sectors including cereal growing, potato growing, wine growing and beekeeping. The result is the rejection of the stated hypothesis, which cannot be confirmed due to the non-fulfilment of the claim of an increase in production in absolute terms over the period under review and a decrease in relative significance with respect to all selected agricultural commodities as a quantifiable output of other sectors.
