Investing in real investment instruments

The main goal of the thesis is to analyze the use of real assets, mainly works of art and art objects, for risk diversification in the portfolio. The first chapter of the thesis describes the main division of investment instruments and characterizes the most well-known types of investments in real assets, such as investments in real estate, precious metals, precious stones, works of art and art objects. The second chapter describes the development of the art market, its current trends, such as investing in NFTs, and the disadvantages of investing in the art market. Art organizations and the most famous auction houses such as Sotheby's and Christie's are also mentioned. The thesis defines selected indices of the art market, specifically the Artprice Global Index is used for the final analysis. The third chapter deals with the issue of diversification, which is subsequently verified in the empirical part of the thesis. At the end of the work, the input hypotheses are verified, and the prediction of the art market based on the ARIMA model is also added.

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je analyzovat využití reálných aktiv, především uměleckých děl a předmětů, pro diverzifikaci rizika v portfoliu. První kapitola práce popisuje hlavní dělení investičních instrumentů a charakterizuje neznámější druhy investic do reálných aktiv, jako jsou investice do nemovitostí, drahých kovů, drahých kamenů, uměleckých děl a předmětů. Druhá kapitola zachycuje vývoj trhu s uměním, jeho současné trendy, jako např. investování do NFT, a nevýhody investování na trhu s uměním. Zmíněny jsou také umělecké organizace a nejznámější aukční domy jako Sotheby's a Christie's. Práce definuje i vybrané indexy trhu s uměním, konkrétně pro závěrečnou analýzu je použit Artprice Global Index. Ve třetí kapitole se nachází problematika diverzifikace, která je následně ověřena v empirické části práce. Na závěr práce jsou ověřeny vstupní hypotézy a je přidána i predikce trhu s uměním na základě ARIMA modelu.
