Contemporary Secondary Market of Czechoslovak Furniture and Home Decorations of the 20th Century

This thesis focuses on the current secondary market of Czechoslovak furniture and home decoration of the 20th century. Currently, this period and the retro style in general is very popular and in demand among the general public not only in our country but in many countries around the world. The introduction of the thesis introduces the reader to the subject and then to the aims and methodology. In the theoretical part, Czechoslovak furniture and home decoration of the 20th century is introduced, along with its authors and its setting in specific historical periods. Furthermore, the thesis presents the current form of this secondary market for retro furniture from the 20th century and the possibilities of its sale, together with the companies and individual dealers currently engaged in the sale, restoration and revival of historical furniture. The practical part of the thesis evaluates the responses of each company. The thesis used a qualitative research method based on a questionnaire survey distributed to pre-selected companies. The subsequent interpretation of these responses summarises and presents the current state of the Czech market, outlines its future and presents the opinions of the selected retailers. Another sub-objective of this thesis is also its informational value for future online furniture sellers, but also for users or institutions that would like to understand this trend more and thus understand the growth in demand for this type of goods, and especially the growth in its price.
