Potential for cooperation of cultural institutions operating in the part of the urban conservation area „ZÁMECKÉ NÁVRŠÍ“ in Litomyšl

The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with the city of the 21st century. It addresses its issues mainly in the cultural sector but also the sector of urban public space. It also addresses urban development and cultural planning which is vital as well. Next, the participation of the inhabitants, without which culture would be meaningless in most cities. Last but not least, the types of cultural institutions set up – their functioning are described, which the author used to investigate and describes in the practical part. The aim of this thesis is to determine the possible cooperative relationship between cultural institutions in Litomysl and uncover issues of this cooperation and their impact on the development of urban district „Zamecke navrsi“ in Litomysl. The conclusion of this thesis are suggestions on how to improve the function of said urban district. The practical part presents cultural institutions that operate in a public space with a deep historical legacy and a place with a genius loci. The interviews conducted with actors, representatives of the institutions and the city administration are the main source for this thesis. The interviews were analysed and then an evaluation and recommendations were made. It is through this that the reader should be able to outline the issues of the cultural sector from multiple perspectives and to reflect on the public space and cultural action in it.
