The use of virtual and augmented reality in corporate practice – a case study of a logistics company

| Abstract: | Čtvrtá průmyslová revoluce je aktuálním fenoménem se zásadním dopadem nejen na průmysl, ale i ostatní oblasti lidského života, zejména toho pracovního. Prominentním rysem je postupné zavádění automatizace, robotizace, digitalizace a moderních technologií, mezi kterými dominuje virtuální a rozšířená realita. Cílem práce je identifikovat, jak virtuální a rozšířená realita přispívá k produktivitě, spokojenosti a motivaci pracovní síly a ovlivňuje tak budoucí prosperitu společnosti. K dosažení cíle jsou v teoretické části podrobně rozebrány nejen přední technologie fenoménu, ale pomocí SWOT analýzy je i určen stav, v jakém se česká ekonomika v souvislosti s Průmyslem 4.0 nachází. Empirický výzkum se uskutečnil v distribučním centru společnosti DHL v Chebu a je koncipován jako případová studie. V praktické části autorka popisuje danou společnost, výzkumný soubor, použité metody, kterými jsou dotazníkové šetření a ústní rozhovor, a vyhodnocuje, zda jsou stanovené hypotézy pravdivé či nikoliv. Z výsledků studie vyplývá, že implementace technologie augmentované reality v procesu vychystávání objednávek skutečně přispívá k časové úspoře, nižší míře fluktuace, podporuje produktivitu, motivovanost a spokojenost zaměstnanců. Jedná se o nástroj s vysokou mírou návratnosti investic, do kterého se společnosti vyplatí investovat své zdroje. |

| Abstract: | The fourth industrial revolution is a current phenomenon with a fundamental impact not only on industry, but also on other areas of human life, work life especially. A prominent feature is the gradual introduction of automation, robotization, digitization and modern technologies, among which virtual and augmented reality dominate. The aim of the thesis is to identify how virtual and augmented reality contributes to the productivity, satisfaction and motivation of the workforce and therefore affects the future prosperity of the company. To achieve this goal, not only the leading technologies of the phenomenon are analyzed in detail in the theoretical part, but also the state of the Czech economy in connection with Industry 4.0 is determined using a SWOT analysis. The empirical research was carried out in the distribution center of the DHL company in Cheb and it is designed as a case study. In the practical part, the author describes the company, the research set, the methods used, which are questionnaire surveys and oral interviews, and determines whether the stated hypotheses are true or not. The results of the study show that the implementation of augmented reality technology in the order picking process truly contributes to time savings, a lower turnover rate and supports productivity, motivation and employee satisfaction. It is a tool with a high rate of return on investment, in which it is worthwhile for companies to invest their resources. |
