Comparative analysis of the socio-economic development in the context of realised subsidies in three rural municipalities in various peripheral border locations in Czech Republic

This master's thesis deals with the identification of differences between selected municipalities based on a comparative analysis of the socio-economic development of these municipalities in various border peripheral regions of the Czech Republic over the given period. These are the municipality of Lipov in the Hodonín district in the South Moravian Region, the municipality of Postřekov in the Domažlice district in the Pilsen Region and the municipality of Poniklá in the Semily district in the Liberec Region. The socio-economic analysis is followed by a SWOT analysis, which determines the development prerequisites of the monitored municipalities. The SWOT analysis is verified through interviews with the mayors of the selected municipalities. In parallel, the extent to which the municipalities have benefited from subsidies over the given period is assessed. On the basis of the socio-economic analysis, the differences that distinguish the municipalities in question are identified. As regards the use of subsidies, no direct link is found between the number of subsidies used and the indicators in the socio-economic analysis. However, despite certain shortcomings of municipalities in peripheral areas evident from the socio-economic analysis, the peripheral location of the municipality is not perceived as a factor that would significantly jeopardise the further development of the place.
