Sustainable finance in banking sector

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of ESG in connection with the banking sector. In the first part of this diploma thesis a historical and theoretical overview of the banking market is presented. Next, the term ESG itself is explained and the role of banks in sustainable development is described. At the end of this section, there is also a short overview of the current sustainable products offered by Czech banks. In the practical part of this thesis, the impact of ESG evaluation (score) on selected cost indicators of banks is investigated. Also, the impact of the area where banks operate on their ESG score is investigated. Data for the calculation of practical part were downloaded from the Refinitiv database and regression, correlation analysis and variance analysis were used to verify the hypotheses.

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje problematice ESG ve spojitosti s bankovním sektorem. Na začátku této práce je uveden historický a teoretický přehled bankovního trhu. Dále je vysvětlen samotný termín ESG a je popsána role bank při udržitelném rozvoji. Na konci této části je také uveden krátký přehled současných udržitelných produktů českých bank. V praktické části této diplomové práce je zkoumán vliv ESG hodnocení na vybrané nákladové ukazatele bank a také je zkoumán vliv oblasti, ve které banka působí na její ESG hodnocení. Data pro uskutečnění praktické části byla stažena z databáze Refinitiv a pro ověření hypotéz byla použita regresní, korelační analýza a Analýza rozptylu.
