The main objective of the dissertation is to present the basic theories and development of behavioural economics in a structured and logical way, to empirically verify the obtained findings and to analyse the possibility of applying the findings in practice with an emphasis on public finance. The thesis includes the implementation of academic research focusing on econometric analysis of the relationship between income and quality of life at the level of individuals and entire economies. At the level of individuals, the relationship was examined using econometric analysis and the behavioural concept of the "status quo", where the relatively recent global economic crisis provided an ideal reference point for the analysis of the concept in the area of public finance, while providing sufficient data for the research. At the level of economies, the analysis was carried out using panel data from more than 140 countries. The results obtained can be interpreted as a verification of the behavioural concept on macroeconomic data and, together with other findings, can be used for the potential application of behavioural economics in public finance or in the design of public policies that contribute to improving the quality of life. |
