Proposal for a reporting solution to the issue of academic failure at universities

The aim of this thesis is to create a pilot reporting solution for the issue of academic failure at university for the company dolphin consulting, a.s. This solution consists of classification models for predicting probability of academic success and a reporting application which covers the area of academic failure at the model university and which integrates the created classification models. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part first describes the issue of academic success at Czech universities. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the work is devoted to the topic of knowledge discovery in databases and describes selected popular classification methods in more detail. Finally, the theoretical part defines the terms report and dashboard and presents best practices for creating dashboards. In the practical part of the thesis, classification models are created for predicting academic success. The creation of the classification models follows the steps of the selected methodology of knowledge discovery in databases. After that, a solution is created in the selected reporting tool covering the issue of academic success at the economics faculty of the model university. This solution integrates the created classification models.
