Analysis of visit rate of Bali in comparison with Thailand

| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o vývoji návštěvnosti Bali a Thajska. Hlavním cílem této práce je analýza návštěvnosti vybraných destinací a jejich porovnání mezi sebou. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy z oblasti cestovního ruchu, které jsou potřebné pro hlubší pochopení tématu. V praktické části byla využita především analýza sekundárních statistických dat, pomocí které byl zhodnocen příjezdový cestovní ruch obou destinací. Výsledkem práce je zodpovězení výzkumných otázek, proč nedosahuje turistická návštěvnost Bali takových hodnot jako Thajsko, pro jaké aktivity jsou jednotlivé destinace vhodné a také porovnání destinací z různých hledisek. Práce prokázala, že Bali nedosahuje tak velké návštěvnosti jako Thajsko z více důvodů. Jedním z nich je vyšší cena letenek na Bali, v průměru o 21 % dražší ubytování na Bali, lepší podnebí pro dovolenou v Thajsku v období zimy v Evropě, kvalita vody nebo například náboženství. Dalším dílčím cílem práce bylo stručné zhodnocení vlivu na návštěvnost Bali a Thajska během pandemie Covid – 19. Podle dostupných statistických dat, měla pandemie negativní vliv na obě exotické destinace. Na Bali se snížila návštěvnost v roce 2020 o 82,97 %, v Thajsku poklesla o 83,17 % z důvodu přísných restrikcí v rámci cestovního ruchu a uzavření obou destinací. Pro další dílčí cíl práce byla využita komparativní metoda, pomocí které byla v závěru práce porovnávána nabídka poznávacích exotických zájezdů tří vybraných cestovních kanceláří ČEDOK, CK FISCHER a CK ADVENTURA. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor thesis analyses the development of visitor arrivals to Bali and Thailand. The major objective of this study is to analyze the visitation of the selected destinations and compare them with each other. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts in the field of tourism that are necessary for a deeper understanding of the topic. In the practical part, the analysis of secondary statistical data was mainly used to evaluate the inbound tourism of both destinations. As a result, the thesis answers the research questions of why tourist arrivals to Bali, Indonesia do not reach the same levels as Thailand, what activities each destination is suitable for, and also compares the destinations from different perspectives. The thesis has shown that Bali does not achieve as much tourist arrivals as Thailand for several reasons. One reason is the higher price of air tickets to Bali, on average 21 % more expensive accommodation in Bali, another reason is the better climate for holidays in Thailand during the winter in Europe and related to this is the different main tourist season in different months in each destination, another reason is the quality of water or for example religion. Another sub-objective of the thesis was to briefly assess the impact on visitor arrivals to Bali and Thailand during the Covid - 19 pandemic. The thesis proved that Bali's visitor arrivals decreased by 82.97 % in 2020, Thailand's decreased by 83.17 % due to severe tourism restrictions and closure of both destinations. For another sub-objective of the thesis, a comparative method was used to compare the exotic tour packages offerings of three selected travel agencies, CEDOK, CK FISCHER and CK ADVENTURA. |
