| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá strategickým významem Severního ledového oceánu pro Spojené státy. Jsou zde analyzovány americké zájmy a nástroje jejich prosazování. Zájmy jsou zjištěny na základě analýzy amerických vládních a bezpečnostních dokumentů a jsou rozděleny na obranné, ekonomické a udržení stability. Jako nástroje jsou probrány především ty, které se týkají vojenské přítomnosti a diplomatických aktivit. V závěru je pomocí analýzy zájmů s ohledem na geopolitické souvislosti a americkou přítomnost v Arktidě stanoven strategický význam Severního ledového oceánu pro USA. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor's thesis examines the strategic importance of the Arctic Ocean to the United States. The thesis analyses U.S. interests and the tools for advancing them. The interests are identified by analysing U.S. government and security documents and are divided into defence, economic, and stability maintenance. The tools discussed are primarily those related to military presence and diplomatic activities. Finally, the strategic importance of the Arctic Ocean to the U.S. is established by analysing interests concerning the geopolitical context and the U.S. presence in the Arctic. |
