| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce se zabývá obrannou strategii Čínské republiky vůči Čínské lidové republice. Jelikož se vztahy v Tchajwanském průlivu za posledních pár měsíců začaly intenzivně eskalovat, otázka bezpečnosti je nyní kritická pro tento ostrovní stát. V kontextu bezpečnosti se tato bakalářská práce bude hlavně zabývat strategii známou jako "strategie dikobraza". Cílem strategie je posílit odstrašovací schopnost Tchaj-wanu, vybudovat síť aliancí a partnerství, která podporují bezpečnostní cíle Tchaj-wanu, a ofensivně reagovat na čínský vojenský, diplomatický a ekonomický tlak. Strategie dikobraza byla vyvinuta v reakci na jedinečné bezpečnostní výzvy Tchaj-wanu, mezi něž patří velký a mocný soused, který se snaží znovu sjednotit s Tchaj-wanem silou, omezené mezinárodní uznání a diplomatická podpora a malá a stárnoucí armáda, která čelí významným výzvám modernizace. |

| Abstract: | This Bachelor's thesis deals with the defence strategy of the Republic of China against the People's Republic of China. As relations in the Taiwan Strait have begun to escalate over the past few months, the issue is now critical for Taiwan. In the context of security, this Bachelor's thesis will mainly deal with a strategy known as the "porcupine strategy". The strategy aims to strengthen Taiwan's deterrence capability, build a network of alliances and partnerships that support Taiwan's security goals, and respond to Chinese aggressive military, diplomatic, and economic pressure. The porcupine strategy was developed in response to Taiwan's unique security challenges, which include a large and powerful neighbour seeking to reunify with Taiwan through force, international recognition and diplomatic support, and a small and ageing military facing significant modernisation. |
