| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem nového boje o Afriku, tzv. New Scramble for Africa, a zejména narůstajícím vlivem tzv. emerging powers, především států BRICS. Práce se věnuje komparaci strategií dvou nedemokratických států BRICS, Ruska a Číny, v subsaharské Africe. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola se věnuje konceptualizaci fenoménu nového boje o Afriku a sleduje změny aktérů a jejich cílů a prostředků mezi jednotlivými etapami boje o Afriku. V rámci současné, třetí, vlny boje o Afriku dále analyzuje současnou roli tradičních aktérů, zejména Francie a USA, a roli států BRICS. Ve druhé a třetí kapitole jsou analyzovány jednotlivé strategie a doktríny, ze kterých vychází Rusko a Čína v subsaharské Africe, jejich cíle, které v této oblasti mají a také diplomatické, bezpečnostní a ekonomické prostředky, které využívají k dosažení svých cílů. Poslední kapitola obsahuje komparaci strategií obou velmocí v subsaharské Africe a přináší odpovědi na stanovené výzkumné otázky. |

| Abstract: | This thesis deals with the phenomenon of the New Scramble for Africa, and in particular the growing influence of emerging powers, especially the BRICS states. The thesis compares the strategies of two non-democratic BRICS states, Russia and China, in sub-Saharan Africa. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter conceptualizes the phenomenon of the new scramble for Africa and traces the changing actors and their objectives and means between the different stages of the scramble for Africa. Within the current, third, wave of the struggle for Africa, it further analyses the current role of the traditional actors, particularly France and the US, and the role of the BRICS states. The second and third chapters analyse the different strategies and doctrines that underpin Russia and China in sub-Saharan Africa, the objectives they have in the region, and the diplomatic, security and economic means they use to achieve their goals. The last chapter compares the strategies of the two powers in sub-Saharan Africa and answers the research questions. |
