Analytics and Reporting Implementation at Zent2U

The master's thesis aims to create a Business Intelligence solution for the out-licensing team of the B2B department of the pharmaceutical company Zentiva. The project sets to provide tools to team members for smoother execution of set business plans by analysing existing data. The analysed data is then visualised using a reporting tool, as the data visualisation allows the existing business strategy to be adjusted based on the current data. The key deliverables are a BI architecture concept, deployment of a method to record data into a relational database, and visualisation of the team's business activities and their financial outputs; the data from the relational database is used to analyse and create reports in the visualisation tool Microsoft Power BI as specified by the department manager with comments from the entire team. Certain aspects were taken into account when selecting the solution, such as specific tools that are already in use in the company and whether they can be used in this project (including infrastructure), the level of intervention/maintenance required for the solution, user-friendliness, the solution's customisation; based on these criteria, an architecture with its entire concept was created. This was followed by cleansing the data in the source, populating it into the database, linking it with the visualisation tool and creating the required reports. After deploying the essential part, work continued to optimise the entire solution. The whole team did the acceptance of the deliverables in two phases: presentation and hands-on workshop. While concluding the project, certain steps are proposed to move the entire solution forward, such as upgrading the existing BI solution to SSBI: i.e., reworking the current solution, adding an analytical layer between the reports and the database, and training team members with report creation, for which interest was already shown, but it is out of the thesis' scope.
