Creating a methodology for deploying IoT in logistics companies

This diploma thesis solves the problems of implementing IoT in logistics companies. Since automation and deployment of various technologies in businesses is the current trend, it is good to have a methodology that guides the business to reach the goal. For this reason, the goal of this work is to create a methodology that will help in the deployment of individual IoT elements in the enterprise. The work is divided into several parts, the first part describes the methodology that was used to write the diploma thesis. Part of this methodology is also a part devoted to the conducted research of various information sources. The next parts are the theoretical definitions of the terms associated with this work. Defined terms are logistics, IoT, IIoT and IoT used in logistics to help understand the basic terms used at work. The last part is the very proposal of the methodology for implementing IoT in logistics companies. The output of the thesis is a methodology for the successful implementation of IoT in logistics companies, which includes specific steps and for identifying areas for IoT deployment, analysis of the obtained data, design of a specific solution, implementation of the IoT solution and subsequent monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the IoT solution. The aim of this work is to provide logistics companies with a concrete methodology for the successful implementation of IoT in their processes and thereby improve the efficiency, transparency and overall quality of the services provided.
