Application of Sustainable Development in the Field of Material Data in the Automotive Industry

Thesis is dedicated to the sustainable development of automotive companies in the field of material data management. An essential part of the approval process and the introduction of sustainable products to the market starts with the collection of material data. Deployment of such data system may require large. On the other hand, a working IMDS process brings a number of benefits starting from facilitation of inspections, product updates and ensure its compliance with regulations today and in the future. The fulfillment of standards and regulations is required via IMDS compliance, however there is no implementation guide known in the industry. The goal of the thesis is to create an IMDS process which is going to work as an easy-to-implement example for an automotive company. Another goal is to create a tool for management and continuous improvement of the level of competence by the method of evaluating the effectiveness of the process. Author used multidisciplinary knowledge from the areas of system sciences, business informatics operations and audit methodological tools acquired during the studies (PDCA, RACI, CMMI PPQA, FMEA). The analysis and design process was gradually validated by experts from various fields. Based on the results of the internal evaluation, new recommendations were defined for the key areas of the IMDS process. The benefit of implementation guidance and effectiveness evaluation is a structured procedure and requirements allowing companies to start immediately with the application or evaluation of the current state, which is supposed to support the continuous improvement of the IMDS process.
