Analysis and design of Business Intelligence solution for hotel industry

The main aim of this thesis was the analysis of a management system in a hotel, which was used as a base to prepare BI reports for an apartment hotel in Prague. The bachelor thesis is based on a theoretical part that contains the analysis of the hotel industry and also the characteristics of used terms. Based on the generalized statistics obtained from the Czech Statistical Office, the hotel segment is not in good condition. The hotel industry is more and more supported by IT products, which are necessary parts of the implementation of a BI solution, and it is a reason why the thesis contains characteristics of these products. The making of a BI solution cannot be done without the analysis of the specific organization – this is included as well. Some owners are considering using various IT conveniences in order to make processes more effective and improve customer satisfaction. The outcome of this thesis is four dashboards that can help the upper management with decision-making. In order to achieve the outcomes, various methods were used such as the analysis of documents, primarily for the research of academics, books, and internet resources. The statistics regarding the hotel industry were processed using the methodology of data analysis. Analysis of the firm’s anonymized data was used to create a basis for BI reports. The whole thesis is based on the author’s experiences obtained from the author’s employment in the hotel. Conclusions are primarily determined as a basis for implementing a BI solution for the analysed hotel, but they can also be used for hotels in similar categories.
