| Abstract: | This thesis uses logistic regression to analyse which basic basketball statistics are important in determining the outcome of a game. The thesis compares six seasons of the Czech National Basketball League (NBL), Euroleague, and the NBA, both in the regular season and playoff, using only basic box score statistics or their derivatives. The created models were based on three different sets of predictors: the first set contained only offensive/defensive efficiency rating, the next set consisted of the so-called Four Factors, and the last one fitted ordinary statistics obtainable directly from box scores. The results suggest that efficient shooting, turnovers, and rebounding are among the most important factors to winning games in all leagues, with each league differing in which factors are more important. In the NBA, there was a larger emphasis on efficient shooting, the 3-point shot was more important than in other leagues, with an apparent upward trend over time. The Czech NBL and Euroleague tend to be more strategically oriented, emphasizing turnovers and rebounds more than in the NBA. Additionally, the European leagues showed less difference between playoff and regular season, while in the NBA, the difference in play style between the two was larger. In the NBA playoff, the game becomes more similar to Euroleague and Czech basketball, with a greater emphasis on rebounding, steals, and turnovers. |

| Abstract: | Tato práce využívá logistickou regresi k analýze základních basketbalových statistik a určení, které z těchto statistik jsou důležité pro určení výsledku utkání. Práce porovnává 6 sezón ve třech basketbalových ligách: České Národní basketbalové lize (NBL), Eurolize a NBA. Porovnává jak základní část, tak i playoff. Jsou použity pouze základní statistiky, získatelné pouze ze základního herního zápisu, nebo statistiky z nich počítané. Vytvořené modely používají 3 sety proměnných: první set obsahuje pouze ofenzivní/defenzivní rating, druhý tzv. Four Factors a třetí obsahuje přímo základní statistiky, získané z herního zápisu. Výsledky naznačují, že vysoká úspěšnost střelby, ztráty a doskoky jsou faktory nejvíce ovlivňujících šanci na výhru ve všech ligách. Ligy se však od sebe lišily tím, který z těchto faktorů byl více, či méně důležitý. V NBA byl kladen větší důraz na vysokou úspěšnost střelby a obecně zde byla důležitost úspěšnosti trojkové střelby důležitější než v ostatních ligách. Zároveň vykazovala trojková střelba v NBA rostoucí trend v čase. Česká liga a Euroliga vykazují známky strategičtějšího stylu hry, kdy je oproti NBA kladen vyšší důraz na doskoky a ztráty. Zároveň evropské ligy vykazují menší rozdíly mezi základní částí a playoff, zatímco v NBA byl rozdíl mezi základní částí a playoff větší. V playoff NBA se styl hry mění směrem k evropskému basketbalu, hraném v Eurolize a české lize, kde je obecně větší důraz na doskoky, zisky a ztráty. |
