Social site focused on Movies and TV Shows

Focus of this bachelor’s thesis is about whole process of creating a web application for social network focused on movies and TV series, from stage of analysis, design, implementation to users testing. The design of the said web application consists of a research and comparison of the four most popular solutions that exist in the current market. After an analysis of the user interfaces and functionalities of the existing solutions, list of base functionalities of my application was created. After that, questionnaire survey was carried out, which was targeting movie fans, and therefore potential users, to obtain a list of additional functionalities, that they would like to see in my application. A unique functionality was also designed for the app to combat so-called binge watching, a relatively new behavioural problem, which is described as people consecutively watching a high number of episodes of a TV show. Furthermore, the design part in this bachelor's thesis includes a description of the chosen technologies and programming languages - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP and SQL - which were used to create the web application. Result of this thesis is a full-fledged web application that contains all the predefined functionalities. Chapter of implementation in the thesis discusses in detail the specific ways in which the functionalities were implemented, Furthermore, the conclusion of the chapter contains potential ways of extending the application in the future. At the very end of this bachelor's thesis is conducted a usability testing, which verifies the proper functioning of the application. Attachments contains a sample of selected images of the application and a link to an online repository that contains all the source code of the web application, and a script for creating the relational database structure.
