| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na vývoj zvláštního anglo-amerického vztahu v letech 1945–1956. Cílem práce je ověření či vyvrácení hypotézy, že onen zvláštní vztah měl pro Velkou Británii osudový dopad. V práci je provedena analýza vývoje anglo-amerického vztahu od konce 19. století s podrobnějším rozborem válečných let a následného hospodářského a politického vývoje po druhé světové válce. Dále je tento vývoj analyzován a zasazen do kontextu světových událostí. Jsou zde detailně analyzovány americké půjčky Británii a dopad na britské fungování a jejich rozhodovací samostatnost, pokud se jednalo o jejich iniciativy v různých oblastech světa. Je zde potvrzena hypotéza, že pro Británii měl vztah se Spojenými státy osudový dopad, jelikož od průběhu války začali ztrácet své velmocenské postavení, a tento stav se po konci druhé světové války prohluboval. Velký podíl na tom měla americká snaha stát se hospodářskou velmocí a kontrolovat světový trh dle vlastních pravidel. Dle uvedené analýzy můžeme říci, že byla Británie vyměněna Spojenými státy v politické i hospodářské rovině na světové úrovni. |

| Abstract: | The bachelor thesis focuses on the development of the special Anglo-American relationship between 1945 and 1956. The aim of the thesis is to test or refute the hypothesis that this special relationship had a fatal impact on Great Britain. The thesis analyses the development of the Anglo-American relationship from the late 19th century onwards, with a more detailed analysis of the war years and subsequent economic and political developments after the Second World War. These developments are further analysed and set in the context of world events. The American loans to Britain and the impact on British functioning and their decision-making autonomy as it related to their initiatives in various areas of the world are analysed in detail. The hypothesis that the relationship with the United States had a fatal impact for Britain as they began to lose their great power status from the course of the war onwards, a condition that intensified after the end of the Second World War, is confirmed. The American desire to become an economic power and to control the world market according to its own rules had a large part to play in this. According to the above analysis, we can say that Britain has been replaced by the United States politically and economically at world level. |
