Exploiting the economic potential of the Schicht Villa in Ústí nad Labem

The subject of the Bachelor Thesis is the neo-Baroque Schicht Villa in Ústí nad Labem. It has been declared a cultural monument since 2015, without any economic use since 2005, and is deteriorating. The thesis explores the possibilities of future use of the villa and offers several options for a possible economic project. It focuses on the issues of financing cultural monuments and conservation, sustainable development of the area, cultural policy of the city of Ústí nad Labem and the importance of the Schicht family. The work is based on available literature and materials provided by the staff of the Ústí nad Labem City Museum and city officials. The primary source of information for the research, in addition to her own observations, are in-depth interviews with actors who have direct and indirect influence on the villa – i.e. museum staff, local politicians, officials and university representatives.
