Refugees’ migration from Ukraine to EU countries and their territorial distribution

| Abstract: | Nejvýznamnější uprchlická krize poslední doby byla vyvolána ruskou vojenskou invazí na Ukrajinu, která donutila miliony lidí opustit své domovy a hledat útočiště v sousedních zemích a Evropské unii. Územní rozložení uprchlíků v rámci EU bylo však nerovnoměrné a některé státy byly mnohem přetíženější než jiné. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjištění síly vlivu jednotlivých faktorů na teritoriální rozmístění vlny uprchlíků z Ukrajiny mezi země EU v roce 2022. Praktická část práce byla představena kvantitativním výzkumem v podobě korelační a regresní analýzy, jejímž účelem bylo zjištění existence a síly vztahu mezi počtem ukrajinských uprchlíků v jednotlivých zemích EU a zvolenými faktory, které mohly mít vliv na dané teritoriální rozložení uprchlíků. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly, že existuje silná pozitivní a statisticky významná korelace mezi počtem ukrajinských uprchlíků a velikostí ukrajinských diaspor v zemích EU (p < .001, Pearson’s r = 0.088, 95 % CI). To bylo také potvrzeno regresní analýzou (p < .001, R = 0.886, R-squared = 0.785, 95 % CI). Takže tato práce prokázala velký význam již existujících místních diaspor a sociálních vazeb při utváření vzorců migrace uprchlíků, plánování a realizaci programů řízení uprchlických krizí. |

| Abstract: | The most significant refugee crisis in recent times was caused by Russia's military invasion on Ukraine, which forced millions of people to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighboring countries and the European Union. However, the territorial distribution of refugees within the EU was uneven and some states were much more overburdened than others. This bachelor's thesis aimed to determine the strength of individual factors' impact on the territorial distribution of Ukrainian refugees among the EU countries, which took place in 2022. The practical part of the thesis contained quantitative research in the form of correlation and regression analysis. Their purpose was to determine the existence and strength of the relation between the number of Ukrainian refugees in individual EU countries and the selected factors that could have influenced the given territorial distribution of refugees. The research results showed that there is a strong positive and statistically significant correlation between the number of Ukrainian refugees and the size of Ukrainian diasporas in EU countries (p < .001, Pearson's r = 0.088, 95% CI). Regression analysis also confirmed this (p < .001, R = 0.886, R-squared = 0.785, 95% CI). Thus, this work has demonstrated the great importance of pre-existing local diasporas and social ties in shaping refugee migration patterns, planning and implementing refugee crisis management programs. |
