Does training to identify fallacies affect individuals' decision making?

| Abstract: | Práce zkoumá vliv argumentačních faulů na rozhodování. Cílem je ověřit, zda trénink zaměřený na rozpoznávání těchto klamů může zmírnit jejich vliv na rozhodování. Dále je zkoumán vztah potřeby poznávání s účinností tréninku. K zodpovězení těchto otázek byla analyzována data z laboratorního experimentu, kterého se zúčastnilo 383 participantů, převážně vysokoškolských studentů. Neprokázal se vliv tréninku na snížení podléhání faulům, ani vztah míry potřeby poznávání s účinností tohoto tréninku. V závěru práce jsou diskutovány možné důvody těchto zjištění a navrženy alternativní možnosti pro budoucí výzkumy v této oblasti. |

| Abstract: | This thesis examines the influence of fallacies on decision making. The aim is to test whether training aimed at recognizing these fallacies can mitigate their influence on decision making. Furthermore, the relationship between the need for cognition and the effectiveness of the training is examined. To answer these questions, data from a laboratory experiment involving 383 participants, mostly university students, were analyzed. Neither the effect of training on the reduction of succumbing to fallacies nor the relationship of the need for cognition measure with the effectiveness of the training was demonstrated. The paper concludes by discussing possible reasons for these findings and suggesting next steps for future research in this area. |
