| Abstract: | The main aim of this thesis is to determine whether gold was a safe haven investment during the different periods of the Covid 19 pandemic. The analysis is done on the Czech PX index in the period between June 2018 and May 2023 using the GARCH model, which is often used in the literature on this subject. The thesis robustly describes the topic of investors' search for safe havens in turbulent times and the gold market as such. The analysis concludes with evidence that gold performed as a safe haven during the initial phase of the pandemic, but then lost this status. |

| Abstract: | Hlavním cílem této práce je určit, zda zlato bylo bezpečným přístavem pro investici v jednotlivých obdobích pandemie Covid-19. Analýza je provedena na českém PX indexu v období června 2018 – května 2023 pomocí GARCH modelu, jehož obdoby jsou často používány v literatuře zabývající se tímto tématem. Práce robustně popisuje problematiku hledání bezpečných přístavů investory v turbulentních obdobích a trh zlata jako takový. V závěru analýzy je doloženo, že se zlato chovalo jako bezpečný přístav v prvotní fázi pandemie, poté však tento status ztratilo. |
