| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na Bitcoin jako na hypotetické globální peníze, které nejsou regulované ani řízené žádnou centrální entitou nebo jiným subjektem. V teoretické části je nejprve popsán Bitcoin a jeho nejdůležitější charakteristiky včetně Lightning Networku – druhá vrstva Bitcoinu. Dále je postaven teoretický základ pro zkoumání možných ekonomických důsledků bitcoinového peněžního systému. V praktické části byl vytvořen GARCH model pro analýzu vývoje volatility Bitcoinu s využitím vybraných vysvětlujících proměnných. Závěr práce shrnuje klíčové poznatky a identifikuje výzvy, kterým Bitcoin čelí na své cestě stát se globálními penězi. |

| Abstract: | This master's thesis focuses on Bitcoin as a hypothetical global money that is neither regulated nor controlled by any central entity. In the theoretical part, Bitcoin and its most crucial characteristics, including the Lightning Network – the second layer of Bitcoin, are initially described. Subsequently, a theoretical foundation is established to investigate the potential economic implications of the Bitcoin monetary system. In the practical part, a GARCH model was developed to analyze the volatility development of Bitcoin using selected explanatory variables. The conclusion summarizes the key findings and identifies challenges Bitcoin faces on its journey to become a global money. |
