Quality Analysis of Information Systems at VŠE from the Perspective of Operations, Security, and Data

This master's thesis focuses on conducting an analysis of the quality of selected information systems at the Prague University of Economics and Business in terms of operation, security, and data. The thesis initially describes various tools that can be used to manage quality and verify its level. Furthermore, the work includes a description of the environment of the University's information systems and an overview of the legislation influencing or determining the rules for operating information systems in such an institution. The operation of the selected information systems, IFIS (Information Financial System) and EGJE (Personnel and Payroll Information System), is then described. A partial objective is to define the requirements for a quality information system through the COBIT methodology (introduction of processes, metrics, user-friendliness, and security). These requirements are compared with the actual state based on a questionnaire survey conducted with individuals responsible for information systems and a survey focused on the user experience of managers. A significant deficiency identified is the lack of measures to address a security incident. Additionally, shortcomings were found in the handling of data provided by the systems. The result is a set of recommendations that can be applied to information systems to address identified deficiencies or improve the overall quality. The first step is to implement data collection on application usage and operational security. The evaluation of these data must precede the definition of metrics by which the success of implemented measures will be measured.
