| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se v rámci dvou-případové studie zabývá dopady historicky ustanovených koloniálních institucí na dnešní ekonomiku Peru a Malajsie. Institucionální ekonomie je oborem, který zkoumá instituce jakožto formální i neformální pravidla pro ekonomické a společenské transakce, která se v ekonomice mohou projevit formou zákonů, požadavků či kulturních zvyklostí. Předmětem zkoumání této práce jsou instituce, které byly v zemi ustanoveny za doby koloniální nadvlády a vytvořeny tak, aby přinesly užitek vládnoucí mocnosti, tedy Španělsku či Velké Británii. Diplomová práce za pomoci historického kontextu analyzuje, jakým způsobem tyto instituce ovlivnily a dodnes ovlivňují ekonomiku bývalé kolonie, a navrhuje vhodné institucionální reformy. |

| Abstract: | This diploma thesis examines the impact of historically established colonial institutions on the present-day economy of Peru and Malaysia within the framework of a two-case study. Institutional economics is a field that examines institutions as formal and informal rules for economic and social transactions, which can manifest in the economy in the form of laws, requirements, or cultural customs. The research subject of this paper are the institutions that were established in the country during the period of colonial rule and created in such a way as to benefit the ruling power, that is, Spain or Great Britain. Using the historical context, the diploma thesis analyses how these institutions influenced and still influence the economy of the former colony and proposes appropriate institutional reforms. |
