Women in diplomacy: The Case of Vietnam

This bachelor thesis focuses on the situation of Vietnamese women in diplomacy from the perspective of gender balance. The aim of the thesis was to analyse the internal structure and policies of Vietnam's diplomacy from the perspective of gender equality and to identify the challenges faced by Vietnamese women diplomats. The thesis is based on a theoretical framework that addresses feminism in international relations and focuses on women in diplomacy and gendered barriers. The research was conducted through analysis of documents characterizing Vietnam's gender policy and interviews with Vietnamese diplomats. The results of the thesis provide a detailed look at the current structure of Vietnamese diplomacy, identify the main challenges faced by Vietnamese women diplomats, and describe the steps Vietnam is taking to address these challenges. This work contributes to the understanding of gender dynamics in Vietnamese diplomacy and highlights the need for further progress on gender equality.
