Crisis Management of the CineStar Multiplex Cinema during the COVID-19 Pandemic

This Master’s Thesis deals with the crisis management of the CineStar multiplex during the covid-19 pandemic. The main objective of the thesis is to examine the crisis management strategy of the CineStar multiplex during the covid-19 pandemic with an emphasis on personnel management and to interpret the partial steps of personnel management by which the company responded to the crisis situation caused by the pandemic. The theoretical part defines in particular the concepts of crisis management and personnel management. In the conclusion of this part, the situation related to the pandemic covid-19 in the Czech Republic and its impact on cinema operators is briefly presented. The practical part consists of qualitative research in the form of in-depth interviews with CineStar management and staff. The thesis concludes that although the company acted intuitively in dealing with the sudden crisis situation, it was still able to react quickly to the change and take appropriate measures to weather the crisis. In the case of the firm's HR management, it can be concluded that the actual management style and approach of CineStar's HR management correlates in many ways with theoretical practices. The thesis concludes with recommendations for specific changes that the firm could implement in the practical running of the organisation.
