The adoption process of hybrid project management in the IT sector

This master's thesis addresses the topic of hybrid project management. The aim of the thesis is to explore how the adoption of hybrid project management unfolds in the IT sector and in what form the hybrid approach is practically applied. Hybrid project management is considered a relatively contemporary but highly popular trend that enables organizations to manage their projects more efficiently, increasing the likelihood of success and thus enhancing competitiveness. Given the timeliness of the topic, there is a recognized need to examine it, particularly from the perspective of practical implementation. The objective of the thesis is fulfilled through an initial review of existing literature and subsequent qualitative research in the form of an in-depth case study. The selected case is a small to medium-sized enterprise operating in the IT sector. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis.Based on the data analysis, two research questions are evaluated, examining the process of adopting hybrid project management and its applied forms. The output consists of defined hybrid models followed within the organization. Additionally, the thesis describes the process of adopting the hybrid approach from the organization's inception to the present, including key factors such as lessons learned from past failures.
