VÝVOJ NEZAMĚSTNANOSTI MLADÝCH V ČESKÉ REPUBLICE V LETECH 2005-2021

The bachelor thesis deals with the analysis and evaluation of unemployment in the Czech Republic in the years 2005-2021 for the population in the age category 15-29 years. The main objective is to answer the questions. How has the structure of the unemployed changed over the period under review? What was the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on youth unemployment? During the period under review, unemployment among the population in the age group of 15-29 years showed both increasing and decreasing trends in relation to the current economic situation. The largest fluctuations occurred during the Great Depression, which hit the Czech Republic in 2008, and the crisis caused by the pandemic in 2020. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts related to unemployment. It includes a description of the labour market, explains the types of unemployment, why we divide the population into economically active and inactive. It also describes the consequences of unemployment, how to measure it, theoretical concepts and describes employment policy. It briefly explains the expansion, the recession and the subsequent impact of the economic crisis on the labour market In the practical part, an analysis of the development of unemployment in the Czech Republic over the specified period is carried out, focusing on age, gender and education. This part also compares the impact of the Global Economic Crisis and the current coronavirus crisis, focusing on the impact of the young generation and confirming or refuting the hypotheses examined. The contribution of this thesis is the detailed research on unemployment of the young stratum of the population of the Czech Republic in the period of economic stability and in the period of crisis. It thoroughly focuses on the comparison of unemployment in the given period, the impact of education and gender on labour market participation.
