THE IMPACTS OF SELECTED ALIYAH ON THE ECONOMY OF STATE ISRAEL IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na dopady vybraných alijí na ekonomiku Státu Izrael v druhé polovině 20. století. Jedná se konkrétně o aliji při vzniku Státu Izrael, aliji ze zemí severní Afriky, aliji Falašů a aliji z bývalého Sovětského svazu začátkem devadesátých let. Cílem práce je analýza zkoumaných obdobích a jejich komparace s běženým obdobím před a po zkoumaném časovém období. Na základě této analýzy je v práci ověřována analýza, že Alije mají pozitivní vliv na ekonomiku Státu Izrael. K ověření hypotézy jsou zkoumány makroekonomické ukazatele jako je růst reálného domácího produktu, růst cenové hladiny nebo míra nezaměstnanosti. Rovněž práce zkoumá další faktory v podobě historického kontext, které se týkají zkoumaných obdobích. V práci jsou popsány historické souvislosti s židovskou kulturou a významem alijí. Práce se dále zabývá imigrační problematiku v ekonomické rovině a seznamuje čtenáře s integračními nástroji Státu Izrael. Dále jsou v práci rozebrány zkoumané období včetně kontextu, průběhu a dopadů dané imigrační vlny, včetně zhodnocení vývoje ekonomických ukazatelů. Zkoumání dané problematiky v práci naznačuje, že populační přírůstek v podobě imigrace má ekonomiku Státu Izrael pozitivní vliv, protože Izrael dokázal v daných vlnách na výjimky úspěšně ekonomicky integrovat nově příchozí obyvatelstvo bez toho, aby se imigrace dlouhodoběji negativně projevila v daných ekonomických ukazatelích. |

| Abstract: | The bachelor thesis focuses on the impact of selected aliyah or immigration waves on the economy of the State of Israel in the second half of the 20th century. Specifically, it concerns aliyah at the creation of the State of Israel, aliyah from North African countries, aliyah from the Falashas, and aliyah from the former Soviet Union in the early 1990s. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the periods under study and compare them with the current period before and after the time period under study. Based on this analysis, the thesis verifies the analysis that Aliyah has a positive effect on the economy of the State of Israel. To test the hypothesis, macroeconomic indicators such as real domestic product growth, price level growth or unemployment rate are examined. Also, the thesis examines other factors in the form of the historical context of the State of Israel in the periods studied. The thesis describes the historical context of Jewish culture and the importance of aliyah. The thesis also examines immigration issues in economic terms and introduces the reader to the integration tools of the State of Israel. The thesis also discusses the period under study, including the context, course and impact of the immigration wave in question, including an assessment of the evolution of economic indicators. The thesis' examination of the issues at hand suggests that population growth in the form of immigration has had a positive effect in the State of Israel, as Israel has been able to successfully integrate the newly arrived population economically in the waves in question (except perhaps the less successful aliyah of the Falashas) without immigration having a longer-term negative effect on the economic indicators in question. |
