The Implementation of a Dual Education System in the CR

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the implementation of a dual education system in the Czech Republic. Dual education represents a possible way to address the long-lasting mismatch between supply and demand on the Czech labour market and reduce the unemployment rate of vocational schools graduates. The primary aim of this thesis is to assess the current state of the implementation of the dual education system in the Czech Republic, to describe the pilot project of dual education in the Moravian-Silesian Region and to evaluate its positive and negative aspects. The main sources include the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Education and Training and the official state institutions entrusted with the supervision of the course of vocational education. A personally conducted survey among students, schools and employers involved in the dual education project is also an important source. Despite positive responses from all groups of actors involved, there are shortcomings that need to be addressed in the future. These include, for instance, an unsatisfactory ratio of theoretical study to training or the failure to meet companies' expectations of students entering employment after completing their studies at vocational school.
