Use of digitalization in catering facilities

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of digitalization in catering facilities. The aim was to present the currently used digital technologies in catering facilities, to evaluate their advantages and disadvantages and their impact on the efficiency of the company's operations. Furthermore, the satisfaction of catering customers with the digitalization services was investigated. The methods used in this thesis include literature search and specialized web resources. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the definition of important terms, the development of digitalization services in catering establishments or how Covid-19 has influenced this sector. Furthermore, the most used digital technologies are individually introduced in this part. It discusses how they work and what advantages or disadvantages they offer. In the last subchapter of the theoretical part, the individual sectors of operations that are affected by the use of digital technologies, such as process automation or data collection and analysis, are described. In the practical part, customer satisfaction with digital technologies in catering establishments was investigated using a questionnaire survey. The aim was to assess satisfaction with different elements of digital technology. The results showed that customers using digital technology are satisfied with the main elements of digitalisation such as speed and comfort, but some other elements such as environmental impact or design and interactivity are not as important to them. The thesis shows that digitalization is a key factor for the development and modernization of catering facilities.
