Design and implementation of a mobile application for managing a personal repository of digitized genealogical sources

The thesis deals with the design and implementation of an open-source mobile application for the management of a personal repository of digitized genealogical sources (RGD), covering the needs of amateur genealogists. A combination of User-centered design approach and Lean Startup methodology was applied in the development. The usability of the application was verified continuously throughout the development process together with six representatives of the target group of amateur genealogists, who significantly contributed to the design of the newly created application. The Methodology for Small Software Projects (MMSP) was used to document the development and the development itself was carried out in four iterations, with validation at the end of each iteration. First, existing solutions were described and compared in detail, based on which the functional and non-functional requirements for the new Familiary mobile application were defined. Then the architecture was designed along with the user interface and an interactive graphical prototype was created. The mobile application was then implemented using the Flutter multi-platform framework and the Dart programming language. Finally, user testing of the application was conducted with a group of amateur genealogists using a standardized CSUQ questionnaire. The main output of the work is the open-source mobile application Familiary for Android operating system, which contributes to the expansion of the range of mobile applications for amateur genealogists and supports independent work of genealogists on the go without the need to use applications of online genealogical platforms.
