| Abstract: | Tato práce zkoumá důvody znázornění násilí v jihokorejské kinematografii a zaměřuje se na vnímání a chápání jihokorejských filmů západním publikem. Jihokorejská kinematografie, proslulá svým sugestivním a často intenzivním zobrazováním násilí, přitahuje značnou mezinárodní pozornost, což vyvolává otázky o důvodech, které stojí za těmito reprezentacemi. Za použití smíšených výzkumných metod, včetně obsahové analýzy vybraných jihokorejských filmů, analýzy dat z mezinárodních filmových festivalů, průzkumů mezi diváky a analýzy tržeb, tato studie kriticky zkoumá souvislost mezi zobrazovaným násilí a jeho přijetím na globální scéně. Analýzou těchto prvků se práce snaží odhalit možné mylné představy západních diváků a přispět k širšímu pochopení složité dynamiky, která utváří mezinárodní obraz korejské kinematografie. |

| Abstract: | This thesis examines the reasons for the depiction of violence in South Korean cinema and focuses on the perception and understanding of South Korean films by Western audiences. South Korean cinema, renowned for its evocative and often intense depictions of violence, has attracted considerable international attention, raising questions about the reasons behind these representations. Using mixed research methods, including content analysis of selected South Korean films, analysis of data from international film festivals, audience surveys and revenue analysis, this study critically examines the link between depictions of violence and its reception on the global stage. By analyzing these elements, the thesis seeks to uncover possible misconceptions of Western audiences and contribute to a broader understanding of the complex dynamics that shape the international image of Korean cinema. |
