Evaluation of the project management of the Banán fest festival

This bachelor's thesis focuses on a detailed analysis of the Banana Fest project by the non-profit organization Viet Up, from a project management perspective, as they have recently become more active in organizing various events and this festival was the highlight of their activities in 2023. The aim of this thesis is to define all the inefficiently applied elements of project management and then propose solutions to the problems found for more effective management of future projects. This thesis first starts with an expert research on the basic definition of a project and then project management in terms of history, division and structure. Along with this, it moved on to discuss the important aspects in managing a project team and the benefits of proper application of project management. In the analytical part, the multi-genre Banana Fest according to the different phases of the project using a qualitative research method consisting of in-depth interviews with project team members is analysed. Based on these interviews, the strengths and weaknesses of the management of the entire festival are then defined, which contribute to the development of all recommendations for the future project managers and their organizational team. The result of the research consists in the selection and construction of appropriate project management tools, including the organizational structure of the project team based on the need for clear communication and collaboration. A work breakdown structure that details the steps to implement the festival is also included, and, last but not least, a Gantt chart to improve the control of the current status of the sub-tasks. Among other things, recommendations for the future project manager, which place a strong emphasis on working with the motivation of the project team, along with a proper introduction of their roles and responsibilities and continuous monitoring of the project work over time are highlighted.
