Impacts of the energy crisis on the public and private budgets of the Czech Republic in 2021-2023

This bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis of the impact of the recent energy crisis on the private and public budgets of the Czech Republic in the period from 2021 to 2023. The energy crisis, which results from various factors such as geopolitical conflicts, changes in the energy market and environmental pressures, had a significant impact on the country's economy, while it manifested itself not only in the economy, but also in public finances. This work analyzes the changes in expenses from the perspective of citizens and families as a result of the increase in energy prices, especially electricity and gas, and the resulting impact on consumer costs. Furthermore, the impact of the energy crisis on public budgets is examined, with an emphasis on changes in state spending on energy infrastructure support, social benefits and other relevant areas. Quantitative methods of data analysis are used in the work, including statistical models to evaluate the impact of the energy crisis on private and public budgets. The obtained results are discussed in terms of economic implications and policy measures that can be implemented to minimize negative impacts on citizens and the overall economy. At the end of the thesis, there is an assessment that the funds spent on measures against the energy crisis were not sufficient. It was possible to stop the rise in energy prices, help households with their repayments, but at the cost of spending billions of dollars on the state and deepening the state budgets.
