Assessment of tertiary education choices in relation to future job market prospects within the Czech Republic in 2023

| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce se zabývá zhodnocením výběru studijního oboru u stávajících studentů terciárního vzdělání s ohledem na výši mzdy v roce 2024 na území České republiky. Hlavním cílem práce je pomocí dotazníkového šetření zkoumat vlivy, které formují rozhodnutí stávajících studentů pro terciární studium v souvislosti s trhem práce. Teoretická část práce uvádí související faktory s výběrem studia a motivaci pro dokončení terciárního vzdělání. Nadále se zde popisují ekonomické teorie přímo i nepřímo související s trhem práce. Praktická část práce nejdříve seznamuje s souhrnnými údaji v rámci vzdělání a trhu práce na území České republiky. Navazující cíl práce je ověření hlavní hypotézy, podle které mají studenti technických a ekonomických oborů často nadprůměrná očekávání ohledně hrubé mzdy ve srovnání s ostatními obory. Tato hypotéza je testována na základě dat získaných z dotazníkového šetření. Hypotéza je potvrzena na základě provedeného chi-kvadrát testu. Dále je zkoumána pomocná hypotéza, která předpokládá, že studenti, kteří studují výhradně za účelem prodloužení studentského statusu nebo pod nátlakem rodiny, mají nižší očekávání ohledně svého uplatnění na trhu práce po dokončení studia. Tato hypotéza je vyvrácena na základě provedené analýzy. |

| Abstract: | The topic of the bachelor thesis revolves around how tertiary education students consider their employment prospects in relation to salary levels in 2024 within the territory of the Czech Republic. The main objective of the thesis is to examine, through a questionnaire survey, the influences shaping decisions for tertiary education among current students in connection with the labor market. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces relevant factors in the choice of study and motivation for completing tertiary education. Additionally, economic theories directly and indirectly related to the labor market are described. The practical part of the thesis begins with an overview of macro indicators within the education and labor market in the Czech Republic. The subsequent aim of the thesis is to verify the main hypothesis, according to which students in technical and economic fields often have above-average expectations regarding gross salaries compared to other fields. This hypothesis is tested based on data obtained from the questionnaire survey and confirmed through chi-square testing. Furthermore, an auxiliary hypothesis is examined, which assumes that students who study solely to prolong their student status or under family pressure have lower expectations regarding their employment prospects after completing their studies. This hypothesis was refuted based on the conducted analysis. |
