| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vliv stárnutí populace na ekonomický růst, a to prostřednictvím analýzy dvou klíčových ukazatelů: podílu pracovní síly na celkovém počtu populace a podílu populace starší 65 let na celkovém počtu obyvatel. Teoretická část práce podrobně rozebírá demografické změny a identifikuje klíčové trendy, nejen na globální úrovni, ale i v rámci Evropy. Dále se věnuje představení teoretických přístupů a analýze dostupných studií týkajících se tohoto tématu. Výzkumná otázka, zda stárnutí populace má negativní vliv na ekonomický růst, je testována pomocí statického a dynamického modelu na panelových datech z 27 zemí Evropské unie v období let 2000 až 2021. Výsledky regresních modelů ukazují statistickou významnost proměnné zachycující podíl populace starší 65 let na celkovém počtu obyvatel. Z regresních modelů vyplývá, že stárnutí populace v Evropě má pozitivní vliv na ekonomický růst. Tato zjištění podtrhují důležitost porozumění demografickým trendům pro plánování ekonomických politik v současném prostředí stárnoucí populace. |

| Abstract: | This thesis examines the impact of population aging on economic growth through the analysis of two key indicators: the share of the workforce in the total population and the share of the population over 65 in the total population. The theoretical part of the thesis thoroughly discusses demographic changes and identifies key trends, not only at the global level but also within Europe. Furthermore, it introduces theoretical approaches and analyzes available studies related to this topic. The research question of whether population aging has a negative impact on economic growth is tested using static and dynamic models on panel data from 27 European Union countries for the period from 2000 to 2021. The results of the regression models show the statistical significance of the variable capturing the share of the population over 65 in the total population. From the regression models, it follows that population aging in Europe has a positive impact on economic growth. These findings underscore the importance of understanding demographic trends for planning economic policies in the current environment of aging populations. |
