Selected factors of employee satisfaction and motivation

Employees were, are and always will be the most important part of most companies. Czech market is currently experiencing very low unemployment. As a result of the shortage of labour supply, companies have to focus on their own human capital and try to care for, motivate and develop its potential with respect to individual characteristics and age. The aim of this paper is to analyse the individual factors of employee motivation and satisfaction in the context of age diversity in the workplace in a selected banking institution. The analysis assesses the influence of certain factors of employee satisfaction and motivation through a questionnaire survey based on hypotheses and the results of qualitative research conducted through discussion groups managed by an external service. The questionnaire focuses on the areas of leadership, training, IT support and community. These areas were identified as key during the discussion groups and explores the views of the institution's staff on them. Based on the analysis, the results are presented and recommendations are formulated for the banking company, which serve as a basis for the implementation of further measures related to employee motivation and satisfaction. The research revealed a high level of leadership in the institution. On the other hand, however, also a lack of IT support was identified, as well as different views of the different generations on development opportunities. Furthermore, different views on the social environment were observed within the banking organisation.
