| Abstract: | The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the relationship between electricity price changes and the consumption behaviour of Czech households. Consumption patterns could be affected by different factors, such as the price of electricity or the general level of prices, the weather conditions, the economic state of the country, etc. With the COVID-19 Pandemic and war in Ukraine, the Czech energy sector has seen a significant shift in price tariffs and consumption changes. These changes have provided grounds for this research, taking the sample of 144 observations of each selected variable's monthly average from 2012 to 2023. The study was done in 2 parts using two different statistical approaches. The results showed that despite price increases, consumption changes slightly, but the relationship is still statistically significant. This means that Czech households view electricity as essential and don’t have alternative sources to substitute electricity. Moreover, due to the specifics of the Central European climate, people adjust their consumption based on the season. This was proven statistically as well, as weather was the statistically significant factor that indicated that during winter, people do not react to changes in price as significantly as they do during summer. |

| Abstract: | Hlavním účelem této práce je otestovat vztah mezi změnami cen elektřiny a spotřebitelským chováním českých domácností. Vzorce spotřeby mohou být ovlivněny různými faktory, jako je cena elektřiny nebo obecná úroveň cen, povětrnostní podmínky, ekonomická situace země atd. V důsledku pandemie COVID-19 a války na Ukrajině došlo v českém energetickém sektoru k významným změnám v cenových tarifech i v čistých změnách spotřeby. Tyto změny posloužily jako základ pro tento výzkum, který využil vzorek 144 pozorování měsíčních průměrů každé vybrané proměnné z let 2012 až 2023. Studie byla provedena ve dvou částech, přičemž byly použity dva různé statistické přístupy. Výsledky ukázaly, že i přes zvýšení cen se spotřeba mění jen mírně, ale přesto je tento vztah statisticky významný. To znamená, že české domácnosti považují elektřinu za základní potřebu a prozatím nemají alternativní zdroje, které by elektřinu nahradily. Navíc, díky specifikům středoevropského klimatu, lidé upravují svou spotřebu podle ročního období. To bylo také prokázáno statisticky, protože počasí bylo statisticky významným faktorem, který ukázal, že v zimě lidé nereagují na změny cen stejně výrazně jako v letním období. |
