Economic impacts of events on Czech firms in selected sectors between 2020 and 2022

This thesis investigates how selected Czech firms behaved in the context of the economic crises in 2020 and 2022, which affected the whole world, including the Czech Republic, and what impact these events had on the development of these firms. For many companies, the last two years have been rather fatal; on the other hand, other companies have managed to use the crisis as an opportunity. Above all, the actions and decisions of the management of the companies were analysed and what results these activities led to. The sector from which the companies originate does not necessarily determine what impact the crisis had on them, although companies in the clothing, tourism or catering sectors had a much more difficult situation. Those entities that were adversely affected by the crisis but decided to address the situation and look for other solutions, whether in innovations in their offerings that would better reflect current market demand, were able to turn the crisis to their advantage and profit from it. For other actors, the measures against the spread of the coronavirus were also a form of saving their business, as these measures changed people's consumption behaviour. It is not unique that an entity emerged from the crisis stronger than before, as it was able to react quickly to the market situation and expand its business model. Some companies in the clothing industry were so badly affected by the crisis that they are still struggling with the consequences on their financial health.
