ESG in Czech banking

This diploma thesis focuses on the issues of environmental and social sustainability, ESG ratings and practices of Czech banks, which are becoming increasingly important in the European context due to ambitions in the fight against climate change. The thesis is divided into four parts, the theoretical part provides an overview of the basic theoretical points in the fields of banking and sustainability. The literature review summarizes academic and professional research on the given issues, on the basis of which the thesis hypotheses are defined. The methodology is devoted to the description of the chosen analytical methods. Empirical analysis focuses on the description of selected data, examination of data, conclusions and evaluation of hypotheses. Among the key conclusions of this thesis is the inability to demonstrate existing relationship of ESG rating on bank profitability and the confirmation of the existence of differences between banks in the field of ESG, from a geographical perspective, but also depending on the size of the individual bank.
