Refugees from Ukraine and Bosnia & Herzegovina in the EU: a study of factors influencing integration

This master's thesis aims to comprehensively understand the integration of refugees from Ukraine and Bosnia & Herzegovina into the European Union (specifically Czech Republic), focusing on the factors influencing refugees’ integration process. Utilizing a comparative approach, this study examines the impact of social, cultural, linguistic, and economic factors on the successful integration of refugees. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, including in-depth interviews with refugees and analysis of relevant literature, to understand the unique challenges and experiences of refugees. Findings reveal that while both groups face significant barriers to integration, differences in their socio-political backgrounds, cultural practices, and support systems in the host country significantly affected their integration experiences. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the diverse experiences of refugees from different backgrounds and offers recommendations to improve integration strategies in the EU.
