Key Visual Features of Czech Stop-Motion Animation

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the identification and analysis of key visual features of Czech stop-motion animation. Stop-motion animation represents a specific form of cinematic art where the illusion of movement is created by playing back a sequence of static frames that are captured non-continuously. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the basic concepts and principles of stop-motion animation are defined, and the historical development of this genre in the Czech Republic is described. Emphasis is placed on the period known as the Golden Age of Czech animation, when Czech films achieved international success. Main focus is on defining the specific visual features of Czech puppet stop-motion animation. The experimental part of the thesis verifies the recognizability of these features among the young generation of viewers (20–35 years old) through the transformed visuals of foreign works with the application of typical Czech elements.
