Sustainability of mass outdoor events in the Mělnicko-Kokořínsko region

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the sustainability of mass outdoor events, specifically in the Mělnicko-Kokořínsko region, defined according to the scope of the destination management organization Turistická oblast Mělnicko-Kokořínsko at the time of writing the bachelor's thesis. The main goal is to find out and evaluate the application of sustainable elements and activities with a primary focus on environmental sustainability in the organization and holding of mass outdoor events in the Mělnicko-Kokořínsko region. The first sub-goal is the mapping of events taking place in Mělnicko-Kokořínsko, the second sub-goal is the mapping of the activities of selected foreign events leading to sustainability and sustainable development. In the first three chapters of the thesis, a literature research is carried out, the terms sustainability and sustainable development, event, event tourism, sustainable event and related key areas are defined, and examples of sustainable events from abroad are also given. Based on the research, an appropriate methodology was selected for further investigation and a questionnaire survey was compiled that examined the current state of events in the municipalities in the area. The last chapter of the thesis deals with the definition of the area, the results of the secondary analysis of suitable internet portals that provided information about the events taking place in the area and the results of the primary analysis of the questionnaire survey and the evaluation of the information found on the sustainability of the events. Part of the last chapter is a draft recommendation. In the conclusion of the work, the findings that the work brought are summarized and further research directions are discussed.
