Long-term growth factors for cesarean deliveries

This thesis deals with the problem of cesarean deliveries. Although this method can save lives, it is important that it is not misused and that it is used only in cases of genuine need. The aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the increasing number of cesarean deliveries since the 1970s and to compare the situation in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. It takes into account the factors that lead to the termination of the birth by cesarean deliveries, both by the doctor and by the mother. The research methodology included quantitative and qualitative analysis. A questionnaire survey of mothers and doctors was carried out in the hospitals in České Budějovice, Jindřichův Hradec and in the Apolinář Maternity Hospital in Prague. Data were processed into time series and evaluated using statistical methods. Findings show that the age of the mother and the primipara play a key role in the choice between cesarean delivery and natural childbirth. The increase in cesarean deliveries has been evident from the 1970's to the present. The question of VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) remains underrepresented. It is important that doctors take into account the psychological state of the mother, her medical condition, and her wishes when deciding on the method of delivery. In conclusion, cesarean deliveries should be used only in life-threatening situations. Care must be taken to ensure that the overall context and the individual needs of the mother is taken into account.
