ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF PROTECTORATE EDUCATION: HISTORICAL AND FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

The diploma thesis focuses on the restriction of education during the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, specifically through the funding and reduction of the number of schools. Its contribution lies in mapping the financial aspect of education during the Protectorate years in schools with Czech as the language of instruction. The outcome reveals a decrease in financial resources allocated to elementary, secondary, and high schools. Since this area of education has not been thoroughly explored in this respect, the findings enrich existing knowledge. In relation to the reduction of schools and students, the author reached the same conclusion, which was supported by theoretical knowledge of contemporary regulations of the Ministry of Education and archival sources. The research thus confirmed the hypothesis that education was restricted through reduced expenditures, cutting costs, but also through censorship of textbooks and curriculum adjustments. The verification of the hypothesis was demonstrated by the example of the Kladno region, specifically the Kladno real gymnasium, whose results confirmed the thesis's conclusion that high schools in particular were restricted.
