Women's participation in the labor market

The main objective of the thesis is to formulate recommendations towards companies and the government that would improve the position of women in the Czech labour market, specifically within the Louny region. The first sub-objective of the thesis is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the position of women in the Czech labour market and the second sub-objective is to define the specifics of the position of women in the Louny region. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the description of the labour market functions, then on the identification of the basic problems hindering the entry of women into the labour market and it deals with the overall equal opportunities and discrimination in the labour market. It focuses at risk groups of the unemployed, gender stereotypes and defines the legislative framework. The thesis focuses in detail at the specifics of female unemployment, its possible consequences and the possibilities of reconciling family care and employment. The practical part contains an analysis of the statistical data, especially concerning women's unemployment in the Louny region. It also presents the conclusions resulting from the questionnaire survey with unemployed women and from interviews conducted with female employees of labour offices, including legislative recommendations for possible improvement of the position of women on the labour market.
